This project will use old coffee grounds from the many local cafes to feed flowers on our new local community garden.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Mountford Growing Community is a new community garden project that is seeking to establish an edible garden in our local estate. One of the key things is feeding the soil. The soil quality at the moment is very poor and the perfect way to enrich it while encouraging recycling and composting is to forge links with local businesses and take their old coffee grounds to provide compost for our garden. We hope that this in turn will encourage local residents to recycle their own food waste as well. It will be a good opportunity to educate local children on the importance of recycling and reducing the waste of compostable food stuffs.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It will engage both the local residents in food waste recycling and local businesses in food waste recycling while benefitting and enriching the soil where we will be starting our new community garden. It will help forge links within the community and between the community and local businesses.
Steps to get it done:
By providing a rich soil in which to plant our garden this project will provide local residents with access to a low cost source of healthy food, and encourage local residents to take pride in our community. It will increase social cohesion and provide a forum to meet the more socially isolated members of our community to meet.
