By Cleckheaton Folk Festival Organisation
As part of Cleckheaton Folk Festival we aim to present a quality community and family based weekend of Street Theatre and children's entertainment in the streets and public spaces of Cleckheaton.
Cleckheaton Folk Festival 2020 aims to provide a weekend of free family orientated entertainment for local people of all ages, with an opportunity to experience and learn new forms of music and dance, both as audience and as participants. As a result, people are attracted to the town to the benefit of local traders both on the weekend and subsequently. Over the years we have worked alongside local organisations and schools to enhance the community involvement and to bring new opportunties for engagement. Local churches, schools, dance schools, businesses and voluntary organisations have all been involved in recent years providing contributions to the parade and to dance presentations. Childrens entertainment in the form of Bouncy Castles, Punch & Judy, Circus Skills with Crafty Devils and Face Painters have all added to the weekends attraction.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Street Theatre, Parade and Children's Entertainment make up the public face of Cleckheaton Folk Festival which brings thousands into the town and brings the town centre alive with music dance and theatre. The event brings visitors from far and wide and gives local organisations a chance to be involved in one of the biggest events in the Spen Valley. The highlight of the summer season in Cleckheaton appealing to people of all ages.
Steps to get it done:

Cleckheaton Folk Festival - Coronavirus (COVID-19) Statement April 14th 2020 In spite of our optimistic outlook we are sad to report that the 33rd Festival will have to be postponed until next year.. We have thought long and hard before making this decision but in the interests of safety for our Artists, Stewards and all our visitors we feel it is the right thing to do. We have already notified as many as possible before we made this this public. The good news is; We have retained all the artists for a new date of; 2nd, 3rd & 4th July 2021 So please put it in your diaries, on your calendars, in your to-do lists but whatever you do make it a date for us all to meet again in healthier circumstances.. We are very grateful for all the effort you all made for our Crowdfunding Campaign and we plan to ringfence those funds and use them for the parade costs in 2021. We are really looking forward to the day when the folk family can all meet up again and enjoy the music we all love, until then keep yourselves healthy and safe.
Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
