More about our impact
The environment
In the end, we saved 30- t-shirts from landfill. According to the UK Carbon Trust, the average carbon footprint of a t shirt over the span of its lifetime is 15kg. If we say that all 30 items had an average carbon footprint of a t-shirt, we saved 650 carbon kg's with this small community project.
The local economy
Unfortunately, we were not able to sell any t-shirts produced in our studio as originally planned. However, we do think that: 1. The production of a free resource & 2. Having new service users visit our studio, Will both ultimately be beneficial for the traded income of our social enterprise.
Volunteering, jobs & education
As we did not continue with t-shirt production once we realised quality was poor, we did not engage 10 volunteers. However, we did have 2 volunteers helping out with our community t-shirt reuse session on June 2nd.
Arts, culture & heritage
Thanks to the project, there is now a freely available resource that shows people how to creatively upcycle t-shirts destined for landfill in the following ways: - Printing -Patching -Embroidering -Adding pockets -Cutting patterns
Activity, health and leisure
30 people from all backgrounds in the Crumlin area came together for a fun, social session.
