Who are we?
Broadwas Village Hall is a registered Charity (Charity number: 523106), whose purpose is to maintain the Village Hall in good repair, and provide a safe environment for people within the community to meet.
The Management Committee, with the help of the ‘Broadwas Village Hall Friends,’ run a series of fundraising events throughout the year. Alongside these events, the Committee would like to ‘host’ a number of Community Events, which are free of charge and provide a benefit to the local community.

Community Event Funding
With regard to the Community Events, such as a community party/celebration or community workshop, the Committee are limited in financially supporting these events directly themselves. As per the Charity Commission requirements, money given to a charity needs to be used for their legitimate purpose and aid in reaching the charities intended beneficiaries.
Legally the Committee can cover part of the costs which pertain to its charitable purpose, such as utilities and providing that safe location, however, additional costings would likely fall outside of Broadwas Village Hall’s charitable purpose.
Therefore, we need the support of the community and others to facilitate and deliver much needed Community Events.
This is why Community Event are only ‘hosted’ by the Village Hall.
Any monies given to a Community Event which are surplus and are not spent on the event will be noted and held for the next Community Event. Community Event funding will not be used towards the upkeep or maintenance of the Village Hall.
Other Fundrasing Requirements
On occasion Broadwas Village Hall may need help in raising funds for a large project associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the hall. In this instance the funding request will be linked to the purpose of the hall and any monies raised will go towards the specified purpose; with any surplus underspend going into the main funds which the hall use to fulfil its charitable purpose.
