Broadwas Village Hall wants to host a free, fully inclusive, Christmas Community event for local children. Bringing the magic of Christmas to the village on Friday 9th December 2022. Early Year/KS1 3:30-4:30pm Early years/KS1 are invited to meet Father Christmas; enjoy the refreshments; play interactive games with Dazzle Face Painting and Entertainment; meet the donkeys; and collect a Christmas gift/goodie bag before heading home. KS2 5:00 – 6:30pm After a short break, KS2 are invited to meet Father Christmas; enjoy the refreshments; play interactive games with Dazzle Face Painting and Entertainment; meet the donkeys; bust some funky moves at the Secret Christmas Disco before picking up a Christmas gift/goodie bag on the way home. Parents/Guardians Parental/guardian supervision is required so free refreshments are provided to those supervising children. Regardless of financial situation, everyone should be able to enjoy the magic of Christmas. 175 children will be invited.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Direct benefit to children who reside within the catchment for Suckley&Broadwas Primary Schools. The cost-of-living crisis means many families will struggle. We find ourselves in a difficult situation where people need to choose between fundamental requirements: recreational activities are not an option. Adult mental health is something which is a hot topic, but little is said about the mental health and impact this situation will have on children. The mental health charity Mind have published multiple times about the impact Christmas normally has to both adults and children, however, this year the impact will be much greater. Many families will not be able to buy presents or take their children to visit Father Christmas as they did before. Such a simple event can cause so much joy, which improves mental health, and would also relieve some pressures on struggling families. To ensure the magic of Christmas remains inclusive and assessable to all local children, this is a free event.
Steps to get it done:
Direct invitations to the event are being sent with support of both Primary Schools. To be inclusive, posters will advertise to the community. A total of 175 children could benefit from this event and their families.
