Bring the #AdpRiotTour to Macc!
Chaotic scenes in a 40ft shipping container! An irreverent, thought-provoking artwork by Jimmy Cauty (first seen at Banksy’s Dismaland) comes to Macc in November.
About the Project Creator
Artspace is a charity based in Macclesfield and run entirely by volunteers. Artspace was setup to provide the people of Macclesfield and surrounding area with a community arts organisation. It is based primarily on the provision of a workshop that people can use to make their community arts ideas happen.
We have a large space on the top floor of an old mill:
This comprises a large open area to build objects such as carnival floats or to do group activities; smaller areas for making art and crafting, woodworking and metalworking; storage for all of the materials that we collect from local industry and recycle in the things that we make; a sewing room complete with good quality up to date domestic machines and industrial sewing machine and overlocker; a digital art room and a quiet space complete with a small table loom.
Its free to take part in our regular activities and we advertise the programme regularly so do come along to find out for yourself what its all about. We have occasional fund raising events and activities and a Friends of Artspace membership scheme to help us raise the funds to pay the rent.
“To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Macclesfield and the surrounding area the provision of community facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants, in particular but not exclusively by delivering a range of creative arts and community projects.”
