Tilston Parish Council

The Latest from A safer footpath route to Tilston School

The footpath is now completed and open for use.

The Parish Council placed the order to construct the footpath with H.A.M.Willett, who started the work on 29th March, Alan and Harry Willett did a great job, aligning the footpath to an attractive route, ironing out the many dips and humps in the field and sorting out the drainage problems. They chose an attractive stone topping as a surface which blends perfectly with the local sandstone. Our fundraising target was in fact exceeded as Benn Teasdale, whose child is a pupil at the school, had very kindly arranged for his firm Colas Contractors,to donate stone and plant and labour for the project.

The "In kind" donation enabled us to expand the project and meet a request from a resident to make the footpath accessible for wheelchair users. It was widened from 1m to 1.5m and new, larger accessible kissing gates supplied by Jacksons Fencing were installed by Steve Mc Nabb of County Landscapes . All this was accomplished very smoothly and Alan and Harry finished the project by sowing wildflower seeds provided by the Parish Council. The footpath was completed on 4th May, as scheduled, just in time for the King's Coronation.

On 10th July the footpath was formally opened by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Razia Daniels.
