Writers Café Atop a Hill is dedicated to fostering creativity by providing an inspiring and inclusive environment for writers and artists. Nestled amidst stunning mountain views, the café provides a tranquil space where individuals can focus on their craft while connecting with others who share their passion. In a bid to assist underwaged or unemployed writers, we aim to establish 10 fully or partially funded spaces, allowing them to pursue their writing goals or advance towards publishing their manuscripts. Recognising the challenges posed by limited access to transportation, we aim to fund a taxi service that ensures accessibility for those who depend on public transport. This initiative combines our mission to foster creative growth with practical support, offering a chance to thrive in a serene and collaborative atmosphere. With your backing, Writers Café Atop a Hill can become a haven for diverse voices, breaking down barriers both economic and logistical.

What we'll deliver:

  • 10 free/ reduced price writing spaces for underwaged or unemployed
  • Taxi to and from the venue
  • Café experience for underwaged or unemployed

Why it's a great idea:

- Enhanced accessibility for writers facing transportation challenges through funded taxi services. - Encouragement of diverse literary voices, fostering inclusivity in the creative arts. - Development of a collaborative community, enabling writers to exchange ideas and grow their networks. - Increased chances for aspiring writers to achieve their publishing goals, building confidence in their craft. - Previous published authors who began in our café include Patricia Gibney, Carolann Copland, and Michael Whelan (poet). - Promotion of mental wellness by offering a peaceful sanctuary for creativity and reflection. - Boost to local arts culture and economy through support for emerging talent.
