Wildwood Days will work with Music for All Brinscall and Horse & Bamboo to create a fantastic musical and artistic experience for local families. The festival will be hosted at our magical forest school site in Brinscall woods and involve workshops, musical performances, craft activities and the chance to toast a marshmallow around the campfire. A series of music workshops will lead up to the festival, when there will be a grand finale performance. The festival is themed around 'The Meeting of the Birds' - Explore the sounds, lives, myths and nests of a range of UK birds through story, music, song and craft. The activities are aimed at 3-7 year olds, but are suitable for the whole family to enjoy together. FInd out what local birds sound like and how they move, playing with musical instruments to make their calls and represent their flight. The two hour workshops in the run up to the festival will be held on Sundays in May, with the day of the festival being Sunday 28th May.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The workshops and the festival will bring arts activities to local families in an accessible and attractive way. Events like this increase community cohesion and help people feel more connected to their local environment. Collaborating with 3 CICs means we can reach new audiences and hopefully introduce families to the creative arts and/or the benefits of outdoor activities that might not have experienced them before. Local families who may find it hard to travel will be able to access unique music & drama activities on their doorstep.
Steps to get it done:
The festival will be as environmentally friendly as possible as all 3 CICs involved are very eco-conscious. Wildwood Days (the site hosting the festival) is off grid, has a composting toilet and reuses & recycles as much as we can.
