Women's Workshop

The Latest from Women's Outdoor Kitchen Northumberland

We delivered our project successfully and more than 35 women joined in over the year.  We built new wheelchair accessible raised beds, and a structure to enable women who use the garden in the future to have a quiet area to sit and reflect, take part in activities or chat to new friends.

As part of the programme, 1 to 1 and group activities were a substantial part of the programme throughtout the year, enabling women to come along and have a go at sowing and growing, or simply sitting and enjoying the garden as well as making new networks and friends.

We had at least 24 facilitated sessions which included Willow weaving, bio-diversity, composting, build a bird box or bee hotel, create a herb planter, mindfulness to support health and wellbeing and sow and grow sessions.

We encouraged women to join in events and environmental walks throughout the seasons to keep active..

Many women benefitted from learning to sow and grow food to save money and waste, but also socially engage with other women.

The garden continues as the next year is due to begin.
