More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

When we started our work two years ago the site was more or less a mono-culture and an ecology survey found little sign of diverse life. Bringing more variety of trees to the site will enable the site to support a more diverse range of wildlife from birds to insects that not only support birds but butterflies and other wild life too.

The local economy

The local economy

This is not an objective of the project.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

During 2021 we've had over 80 different people volunteer across the whole site. Some are local residents, some have come from further afield via Good Gym, Barnet Volunteering and the Ismaili Community and some are young people aged 14-16 taking their Duke of Edinburgh either bronze or silver award. The bulk of the work has been to clear the area for planting. Without this input space for the trees wouldn't have been created.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Opening up the site has enabled the history of the site to be more widely disseminated.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Volunteers were active in preparing the area for the new trees and the site is now more attractive for leisurely walks.
