The idea
For many care leavers, Christmas can be a difficult reminder of loneliness and insolation. Public transport is limited, services close, and without family nearby, the day can feel isolating. This event changes that.
Picture it: a festive meal together, laughter, games, music, and a safe, welcoming space filled with volunteers, kindness, and community spirit. We’ll provide transport to and from the venue so that every care leaver can attend safely, no matter where they’re coming from.
Each young person will also receive a high-quality Christmas hamper, including wellbeing gifts and donated item, to help them feel valued, seen, and supported.
What we'll deliver
- A full day of activites, games and fun
- Social Connections for young people
- Safe transport and accessibility
- A free Christmas Lunch
- A welcoming inclusive space
- High Quality personalised hampers for care-leavers
Why it's a great idea
Combats social isolation: Care leavers are at high risk of being alone on Christmas Day. This event provides connection, community, and a sense of belonging when it matters most.
Boosts mental wellbeing and Self-Esteem: Sharing a meal, receiving thoughtful gifts, and being surrounded by kindness can have a powerful impact on mental health and confidence.
Community-led and volunteer driven: This is a grassroots project made by residents, for residents. Last year, volunteers, local donors, and small businesses came together to make it happen—and we want to do it again, even better.
Safe and accessible: We provide door-to-door transport, a warm venue, and trained volunteers to ensure every young person feels safe and supported.
