We are a group of disabled dancers who are competing at National Para Dance Championships in October. We are raising funds to purchase 2 specialist dance chairs as well as help towards costs of travel and accommodation. We will also be holding a fundraising Quiz night to help towards these costs and if you would like to bring along a team further details will be available on our FaceBook Page

What we'll deliver:

• Purchase specialist Dance Wheelchairs to enhance the dancers ability to move around the floor.
• Allow for further people to participate in wheelchair dance
• Hold a Quiz Night to help raise funds

Why it's a great idea:

Wheelchair dancing is a wonderful way of encouraging people with limited mobility to keep fit as well as boosting self confidence and giving them a sense of achievement. It also offers an avenue to meet other people in similar situations and builds friendships amongst the group. It can also be used in a therapeutic way to improve wheelchair skills, Improve health and wellbeing and help people come to terms with their disabilities and a sneaky way to do their stretches!

Steps to get it done:

• Purchasing Wheelchairs
• Practising in the New Chairs
• Attending National Para Dance Championships
• Setting up further classes
• Paying for accommodation for National Para Dance Championships
• Paying for travel expenses for National Competition

We have 18 dancers with various levels of disabilities. 11 of these dancers are competing this year. Last year we competed with 5 dancers and came home with 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medals. This year we would like to improve on this and the wheelchairs will give us the opportunity to enhance the dancing.
