More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

We improved biodiversity, planted 25 trees chosen for their pollen and fruit, included wood piles for bugs and put up 10 new bird boxes around the estate. Wildflowers that have now naturalised include cowslips and bluebells.

The local economy

The local economy

No measurable impact but the view from houses facing onto the area has greatly improved.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

Lots of volunteers were involved in the project - the working group which oversaw it; people who organised fundraising and consultation events; and the groups who did volunteer gardening and watering. It also brought some younger people into the residents association leadership to help position it for the future.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

It's well known that green spaces are good for mental and physical health, and that the same goes for feeling connected to the people and space around you. Our project ticked both those boxes and has brought continued happiness as people see the beautiful space we have created.
