Halls for All is run by volunteers, under the auspices of St. Ambrose church. We are a registered charity (number 1131639). The premises comprises three fully accessible spaces used by any and all members of the local community - a large hall with stage, a smaller hall and a meeting room. These are currently heated by gas boilers that were fitted in 1982. These boilers use a lot of energy and do not heat the areas efficiently. Many of the Halls for All users are young children and vulnerable adults, who need a warm environment.
- Background of the project
- Halls for All is run by volunteers, under the auspices of St. Ambrose church, but receiving no funding from the church or diocese. Here are some of our users:
- Dance groups – modern, traditional and fitness/dance
- Drama groups – especially St. Ambrose Players
- Concert and music groups (church and community-based)
- Toddler and ‘messy play’ groups
- Junior sports activities
- Young people’s uniformed organisations
- Dog training groups
- Groups that meet for discussion, meditation, mutual support, etc.
- Craft groups
- Meetings and conferences run by NHS, local councillors, U3A, local businesses, etc.
- Gardening groups and shows
- Church events such as Christmas Fairs and fund-raising occasions
- Children’s parties, birth and wedding celebrations
We are running this campaign to be able to replace the old gas boilers with modern, more efficient ones.
