We are looking to refurbish and modernise our not for profit indoor skatepark in Leyland, allowing us to continue promoting physical activity, mental wellbeing and creativity for the local community!
We managed to save the skatepark from closure in 2022, and now we're looking to improve it! The skatepark is for anyone! All ages and abilities are welcome. We work alongside South Ribble Council and other community interest companies to support the community and promote mental wellbeing and participation in action sports. We recognise the importance of providing amenities that cater to both riders and spectators, we intend to build a café within the skatepark premises. We want to create a social hub where children and parents can relax, recharge and connect with others. We also need this facility to provide food for our local holiday activity fund sessions which are free to U16's. We understand the significance of maintaining clean and hygienic restroom facilities within the skatepark. Therefore, a portion of the funds will be allocated towards renovating and upgrading the existing toilets and provide access for wheelchairs. Thank you for considering our proposal!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
By offering modern amenities the park will become a hub for healthy, active lifestyles, promoting physical fitness and well-being. The café will help create a vibrant social hub where individuals can gather, interact, and build connections. It will serve as a welcoming environment for families, friends, and visitors to relax, socialize, and enjoy refreshments while spectating. The skatepark serves as a gathering place for people of diverse backgrounds and interests. By investing in its renovation and improvement, we reinforce the value of inclusivity, diversity, and community engagement.
Steps to get it done:
Our girls nights are becoming more popular and the addition of a warm social hub will massivley enhance the experience. The updated toilet facilities will allow us to properly host events for WCMX (Wheelchair Motocross). We want to increase confidence and encourage people to try action sports!
