Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
The Venue Community Centre needs new accessible toilet and unisex toilet block on the lower level of the building. We will change the men's toilets into a new accessible unisex toilet block.
This campaign has now ended.
We have men's toilets on the lower level with 2 toilets, urinals and sinks. The project will see the urinals removed, one of the toilets reconfigured to create an accessible toilet and the wall removed to make it possible for wheelchair users to access the toilets. A fold down changing table for babies will also be included. All the walls will be lined with easy clean accessible panels and the floor will be covered in a good quality vinyl sheet. This new toilet block will mean the upper and lower levels of the building can be hired separately and anyone with mobility issues can access toilets on both levels.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Wheelchair users and women currently can only access the toilets on the upper level which means anyone hiring the upstairs level are disturbed by users from the lower level. Also, as there is no lift between the two levels anyone needing to use the accessible toilet has to go outside, up the side of the building and come through the upper level which is not ideal especially in cold and wet weather.
