The idea
Connecting Inner City Communities to the equestrian world is the mission we have been on for the last 5 years and its something we have been doing very well.
However, being able to access the countryside where our horses are based is still an issue for many of our members.
We want to change that.
By raising funds for a 3.5 tonne horseboxes we would be able to bring 6 horses/ ponies into the city. This would allow us to run a number of our programs and activities comfortably and transform the city by introducing a new trend: City Hacks, something we have piloted on a few occasions to great success.
Raising funds for a 3.5 tonne horseboxes would also mean we would be deliver a number of our other services too such as:
- Inner City School Tour
- Azeezahs Junior Pony Club
- Rebel Ribers Youth Group
- Mini Me Pony Treks
- Attending Fetes, Carnivals and Festivals
- Fund Raise/ Campaign in the community
Bringing horses to the city would also increase the feel good factor among us.
What we'll deliver
- City Hacks
- Inner City School Tour
- Feel Good Factor
Why it's a great idea
We want to change the dynamics/ the paradigm of equestrianism further by expanding our influence through consistently bringing our horses and ponies to our city. We want the sight of seeing inner - city residents on horseback the norm, right here in Leicester.
Urban Equestrian is already very well known for the incredible impact we have had on the UK's equine industry over the last 5 years however we wish to go even further. Prehaps by engaging in our boldest mover yet. Literally bringing horses to the City.
We want to bring a feed good factor to the streets of Leicester through introducing our animals to them.
We want to unearth new talent, promote the benefits of equestrian engagement and simply be the 'Equestrian Academy' of choice for our many vibrant communities.
We will show that living in the city does not need to mean a lack of access to these magnificent animals and how important a role equine therapy can be.
We intend to be flag - bearers of a new equestrian lifestyle.
Steps to get it done
- To purchase 2 horseboxes
- To host a celebration event with our new purchases by using the vehicles to 6 of our animals into the city all at once
- To offer a number of free hacks in the city for our supporters, audience and members
Urban Equestrian recently featured in BBC One 'We Are England Series' with 3 students of our social enterprise being the primary focus of the documentary titled 'Make Me A Jockey'.
