Displaced is a migrant-led organisation dedicated to tackling health inequity among young migrant people and families by developing youth leadership and belonging. Since October 2023, we have worked with over 300 young people and parents/carers.
We use our culturally equitable, trauma-informed approach through:
-
Education
These workshops aim to educate young people and their parents on the indicators and preventative measures for risks such as radicalisation.
-
Coaching
These sessions create an emotionally safe space where young people can speak about their experiences and develop their socio-emotional skills. Our intergenerational coaching includes addressing communication breakdowns with parents and carers.
-
Community Building
These events are where we facilitate discussion which develop empathy and understanding between our community and decision makers from local organisations and statutory services.
-
Sector Development
We train professionals in youth work and support services in the practical application of Racial and Cultural Equity. We also partner with institutions such as UCL Institute of Global Health in research on the impact of racism and discrimination on migrant adolescent health.
