Umeed Wellbeing Hub provides therapeutic activities, advice and support to the vulnerable people living in London Borough of Ealing.

We would like to provide sports, exercise and therapeutic activities to local vulnerable community members living in London Borough of Ealing. Our new Activity Centre will be based at St Johns, St George's Church & Willowbrook Road, UB2 4RP. The Activity Centre called Umeed Wellbeing Hub will be open 5 days weekly with activities happening all day long. Referrals can be made by GP, Support Workers, Mental health Support Workers, MINT Support Workers, self-referrals and more. Creative and Connected Communities has developed connections with the local communities, VCSE organisations, GP services, social prescribers, solicitors, faith groups and more. We receive referrals on regular basis to our services and so fa we have supported over 205 vulnerable community members with the issues which was adversely affecting their day to lives. The money we will raise will go towards hiring a full time Activity Worker, rent for hall hiring, volunteer expenses, activities and materials.

What we'll deliver:

  • Weekly Strength Building exercise and Movement Therapy sessions
  • Art, music and relaxation therapy sessions to help people recover and feel relaxed
  • English Language, Mathematics & Digital training for vulnerable and old people
  • Social Groups (Tea and Coffee Mornings, knitting, walking and cycling groups
  • Cultural activities to raise awareness about World Cultures (Art, music, dance, costumes, food etc)
  • Training and support with Debt Mangement, Tips on how to save and managing money during cost of living crisis
  • Advice, Support and signposting for benefits, housing issues and more

Why it's a great idea:

*The service will improve people’s mental and physical wellbeing, *Signposting to services to Connect & make friendships in the community *Learn practical skills to become independent e.g., digital skills, reading, and writing skills *Increased support access from existing services, *Increased Confidence with making decisions in day-to-day life *Volunteering opportunities will increase employability and boost economy. *Cultural and Art Activities will bring people together and also it will support local Art, Culture and Heritage *Movement and exercise activities will improve people's mental and physical health and it will promote activity and leisure. *Activities will help take pressure off the statutory services

Steps to get it done:

  • Print leaflets & Activities timetable and advertise to GP's, VCSE organisations and stakeholders
  • Advertise Activity Support Worker's post, interview, hire and complete induction
  • Advertise for Volunteers, interview, hire, complete CRB checks, induction and training e.g. safeguarding
  • Setup Volunteer Rota, responsibilities and activities to be delivered
  • Set up Staff, volunteer and Service User meetings and discuss plans
  • Purchase equipment for activities
  • Plan and deliver weekly activities
  • Complete Warwick and Edenborough Wellbeing scale with SU's to measure improvements

We are working in partnership with several community organisations as it is important for us to bring together expertise and experience for the benefit and best interest of our service users. We have built relationships with solicitors, therapists, counselling services, funding agencies, to meet our service user’s and community needs. Some of the organisations we work with are: Kairos Community Counselling who are providing our clients one to one counselling weekly Pushpalata Dance Troupe are providing occasional dance therapy sessions Idealist Arts Collective are helping us with developing our website, advertisement and promoting Umeed service user’s art to galleries. We receive referrals from Mind in Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind Food GP Surgeries in Ealing and Hounslow Secondary Care mental health services Local community groups and services We are building further contacts with local services and running a quarterly Forums which brings communities together.
