The environment

The environment

Released 150 salmon fry into local burns. Raised awareness of climate change, river health, life cycles and food chains.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

We educated 240 children on river life cycles and food chains, the importance of healthy river habitats and climate change. We spoke to children about how they can help to improve and conserve their river habitats for wildlife and people. We explored the possible sources of pollution in the river and how we can minimise this and improve the river.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

We used creativity and art to express our feelings during lockdown and linked this to the natural world- specifically Atlantic salmon. Creativity is a fantastic way to aid learning in science. Our project has raised awareness amongst those involved about the importance of conserving our natural heritage.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

The sessions creating lockdown fish encouraged positive mental wellbeing by sharing our experiences and drawing positive elements and lessons from that time. Our river walks and visits aided physical health as we encouraged students to be outside and enjoy their rivers in a safe controlled way whilst getting exercise and fresh air. Whilst we were outside we saw wildlife such as birds, deer and even a red squirrel.
