Training equipment for swimming club
Wey Valley SC are looking to raise funds for a set of in-water radio headsets so our coaching team can provide instructions direct to swimmers during training - directly improving a swimmer's ability.
About the Project Creator
Wey Valley Swimming Club was established 40 years ago and has a membership of 240+ drawn from over the Godalming and Guildford area. Our philosophy is to promote swimming in the community at all levels, from learn to swim, for fitness and to competition level. The club caters for all swimmers from 5 to 50+, especially those who want to balance their swim development with school or other sporting life.
Being a not for profit organisation, our ethos is to maintain affordable membership, teaching and training costs (vs other local clubs). This has encouraged swimmers from all backgrounds to enjoy the social, physical and community benefit of the club.
The club has limited ability to provide equipment above and beyond the pool hire time. The emphasis on purchasing training equipment, including kick boards, pull bouys, fins and more specialist training equipment lies very much on the parents regardless of personal circumstance. As the majority of members are children, the equipment is quickly outgrown or worn out.
Wey Valley prides itself on its youth leader development programme. Our poolside volunteers are primarily existing swimming members in their teens, with teachers and coaches often in their late teens or early twenties. We try and provide a bursary each year to part pay for 1 or 2 youngsters to attain these qualifications. This in turn helps keep the up with the requirement to staff each
