Wey Valley is a Guildford based community based not for profit swimming club. We cater for all abilities from 5-50+ yrs, covering learn to swim, through to competition squads. The vast majority of our 240+ membership is under 18 years old. Our club is volunteer run, with paid coaches and qualified swim teachers taking sessions in addition to their day job. Communicating with swimmers is always a challenge when they are in the water, but a new system of headsets from www.myjukes.com will allow the coaching team to communicate directly with swimmers whilst they swim. This will help correct technique, provide encouragement and add a new level of engagement to our swimmers. Additionally we are looking to purchase som bungee cords which allow the swimmers to train using resistance whilst in the water. This will make a huge difference to the quality and variety of training the swimmers can be offered.

What we'll deliver:

  • Buy 2 sets of MyJukes training headsets and microphones
  • Buy 2 sets of training bungees for use during training

Why it's a great idea:

Swimming is a lifeskill which all children learn. It is the only sport on the National Curriculum, yet 1 in 3 children leave primary school unable to swim. Wey Valley SC is committed to helping both children learn to swim, but also embrace an active lifestyle through competitive swimming. This often stays with a child throughout their lives. Wey Valley SC does has no commercial sponsors or benefactors. It has existed for over 40 years and has served the local community as a not for profit organisation. It was the first club in Surrey to achieve Swim Mark accreditation (the highest Swim England accolade) and has produced 2 athletes who have represented Team GB at the Olympics in the last 15 years. We are keen to continue to offer one of the most cost effective and accessible pathways through aquatic sport in the area and improve the quality of swimming for our young athletes.

Steps to get it done:

  • Buy first set of headsets
  • Buy second set of headsets
  • Buy additional bungee training cords

As a club with no current commercial sponsors we are also open to opportunities from local businesses who wish to partner with us. We can provide access to over 200 local families and regularly host events within the community.
