Living Under One Sun (LUOS) is a multi-award winning charity, including the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2017. For the past 12 years we’ve actively created welcoming places to share stories, ideas and skills for people to become “can do” communities embracing and leading positive change, with all cultures, ages and abilities - and Nature!
We’ve worked to reduce social isolation by finding new ways to reconnect local people in Tottenham, from supporting those discharged from hospital to transforming disused local spaces and promoting gardening, healthy eating, cycling, sports and arts & crafts.
LUOS is an accredited assessment centres for AQA qualifications and also work closely with adult training providers. We will be offering our volunteers training and qualifications with pathways to employment across our activities. All our volunteers will also receive Time Credits.
We have strong policies and procedures in place to safeguard our activities and have been commissioned by local authorities to create innovative frontline advocacy and prevention services to vulnerable members of our communities.
We have worked with many sectors, groups and agencies including different departments in Haringey Council, and we’re able to help the community access and shape their services - parks, sports and recreation, public health, social care, regeneration, police, local councillors and MPs.
We are aware housing and regeneration will bring major changes over the next twenty years and we are here to work with local residents’ organisations, the Friends of Park group, and especially young people to have the much needed conversations and collaboration to create and design a positive and inclusive "Place to Be" in our neighbourhood.
