Young people to take lead at Encounter Festival with unique Grand Games event

Blog Preston

This film is more than just a story about bullying – it’s an experience where the audience gets to make choices that shape the outcome and choose their own path. \n\n“It has been created by using the lived experience of young people and their creativity, honesty and passion have been inspiring from start to finish. Watching them grow in confidence, learn new skills and pour their experiences into this project has been amazing. I think people are going to be blown away by what they’ve achieved.”

The film was created by young people for young people. It aimed to address bullying, from the young people's perspective. This was then showcased to professionals, parents and other young people to start conversations around the impact of bullying

The Through Our Eyes project has achieved what we originally set out to do. Young people have been empowered through hands-on involvement in storytelling and filmmaking, gaining confidence, digital skills, and collaborative experience. The project has also strengthened community engagement by bringing together diverse voices and perspectives, sparking important conversations through the interactive film format. By using interactive media to share Preston’s stories, the project has set a precedent for creative, participatory approaches to tackling social issues. It leaves behind not only a high-quality resource but also a legacy of creativity, connection, and pride within the community.
