More about our impact
The environment
We helped the environment by minimising use of non-recyclable items
The local economy
We provided free meals to families during half term.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We were able to have 12 students come in and do work experience. We also made connections with the local collage to have placements.
Arts, culture & heritage
We started a family cafe once a month were families come in have a free meal and do arts and crafts.
Activity, health and leisure
The cafe is used for many different reasons ; To serve the homeless in the community with a different set of volunteers. Youth Groups in the evening and by Web special needs group twice a month as a 'chat cafe' area. The Café is also used by the volunteers to eat lunch or have refreshements during the course of their work, a place to interact and boost self esteem and wellbeing. There are many elderly people who use the cafe and it is an important service to address loneliness and isolation. People often comment on the warmth they feel when they enter the cafe area. It is a very important space and sets the tone for the ethos of the project being warm, inclusive and open to all.
