The Romans are back in Kirkham
This heritage inspired project includes community archaeology, the development of a local archive, a fantastic town centre mural and a magical community lantern festival.
About the Project Creator
Positive Placemakers CIC, was developed to work with key partners and local communities, to support the development of projects that would increase access to heritage, culture, and the arts. Delivering opportunities for health and wellbeing, while also assisting in regeneration and placemaking. Working together with communities and key stakeholders to increase capacity, improve local resources and secure income, to deliver high-quality inclusive programmes of work. Bringing local people together to develop creative concepts that result in significant local and regional impact. PPM has been working with Kirkham Cultural Consortium, schools, community organisations, businesses and the local community for the last couple of years, to deliver Kirkham's Historic England HAZ (High Street Heritage Action Zone) Cultural Programme.
Positive Placemakers CIC has three company directors, Helen Juste, Ruth Owen and Mike Glover, between them they have considerable experiance developing creative concepts, public art commissions, festivals, art venues and cultural programmes of work. Developing partnerships and networks to increase resources and secure the success and sustainability of projects. Providing a grant funding role for community groups and organisations. Also ensuring that all projects conform to current health and safety guidelines, and are compliant with current data protection legislation.
PPM have been working with Kirkham Cultural Consortium, developing a cultural programme for Kirkham. Seeking to improve access to culture while raising awareness of Kirkhams rich heritage. KCC is made up of representatives from key partners and passionate indivdiuals, keen on improving local resouces and creating high quality opportunities for engagement. There exists a wealth of expertise and knowledge, across a wide range of disciplines, amongst the members.
Positive Placemakers CIC has been instrumental in developing Kirkham Cultural Consortium and assisting with the development of Kirkhams Historic England's HAZ (High Street Heritage Action Zone) cultural programme, developing networks and partnerships. 2023/ 2024 is the last year of the Kirkham HAZ cultural programme, funded by Historic England. Kirkham Cultural Consortium have planned to create a lasting legacy, through the development of this proposal. Seeking to deliver a high profile project, that will deliver significant benefits for the town and the people.
