The idea
The Nest Northwest @ The Hive is a free, community-based music programme for 13–18-year-olds in Cheshire, designed to nurture creativity, build confidence, and provide accessible pathways into the music industry. Delivered in partnership with The Hive Youth Zone and Edsential, the programme offers weekly expert-led sessions where young people form bands, write original songs, rehearse, perform live, and record music in a supportive, inclusive environment.
All tuition, instruments, and equipment are provided at no cost, removing financial barriers and ensuring that all young people, regardless of background, can participate fully. The project also offers unique experiences such as studio visits, industry mentoring, and live performance opportunities through partnerships with local venues and professionals.
Since its launch 18 months ago, the programme has engaged over 50 young people, many of whom had no previous access to music education.
