More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

Visitors have seen the beauty of the world on our doorstep and have gained lots of respect and knowledge of the world around us. We've had volunteers removing himalayan balsam and the sycamore saplings, making steps, pathways and hazel hurdles to enable more people to access the woods more safely. we are still just at the begining of what will hopefully a never ending journey for bluebell wood, this investment in the infrastructure has been the perfect springboard for an exciting future

The local economy

The local economy

We use local suppliers, manufacturers and labourers wherever we can. Cheshire sheds are just a couple of miles away in Winsford, completing all the structural work. "the Refill Shed" in Davenham provides our eco handwashing soaps etc. Our professional foraging expert resides in Moulton and we have a growing number of local people looking to run classes and workshops on the site

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

We have drawn on many volunteers to complete the construction work, but now we have the facilities, we can really open up to more people to come and enjoy what we have to offer. We now have a weekly mother and toddler group, educating the newest generation in the natural environment and instilling a love and respect for the natural world right from an early age. We have hosted school visits and are in the process of reaching out to all the local primary schools to invite them to come and learn in the great outdoors.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

in the coming week we have out first "painting under the stars" workshop, run by a local arts teacher and lots more planned for the next 12 months. unfortunately the incoming winter weather puts some folk off for certain things, but that makes us all the more determined to start filling the diary for 2024 and beyond. Music, Theatre and art is something we're very passionate about bringing outside!

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Everyone who has visited has commented on how peaceful the woods are. Volunteers, dripping with sweat and mud, smile and tell us how good they feel to be so distracted from their normal stressful worklife. We are soon to have a "sound bathing classes", and are regularly reaching out to yoga, tai-chi and similar instructors.
