The Bay International Film Festival 2024
The Bay International Film Festival is an annual event in Morecambe celebrating the art of film. A month long event in November 2024 will include 20+ film screenings and 10+ film related events.
About the Project Creator
The Bay International Film Festival is inspired by the unique location of Morecambe Bay and the communities surrounding it. The ambition of the festival is to develop into a significant annual event with both retrospective and competitive screenings, industry events, educational workshops and career development opportunities for local audiences with an interest in filmmaking.
The objectives of TBIFF are:
1. Broadening access a wider choice of film and the moving image for local residents with organising the screenings of both short and feature independent films which are not usually accessible in the area.
2. Offering paid and free film screenings, free access film related events, exhibitions and workshops to the general public and give opportunities to access independent films to both cinephiles and those interested in a potential film career.
3. Bringing economic benefits to the community by inviting high-profile guests and more tourists coming to Morecambe annually. Annual raising of the number of tourists will help us create employment and business opportunities in the area. Local hotels, restaurants, and bars will see the raise of filmmakers, guests, and audiences using their services.
4. Creating a platform for diverse artistic and cultural expressions around Morecambe Bay. Each year, starting in Morecambe, the festival will have a tour of several months around the bay with screenings in Grange-over-Sands, Ulverston, and Barrow-in-Furness.
Festival's partners and supporters are:
