As the project grows in pace, the Sunflower Gang is hearing from people throughout the UK, who are telling us of their growing successes. The original seed, planted in Ealing, has spread to Harrow and Finchley, we're hearing of installations in Bristol & Devon, seedlings growing in Cheshire. Even if you don't want to donate a couple of quid, please feel free to join our Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/thesunflowergang/ Whatever happens please smile whenever you see a sunflower this year
The weeks started by welcoming Anthony David Padgett who kindly sent us this photo of sunflowers in a special place for him in Ramsgate. Anthony created a sculpture of Van Gogh, sited in places he lived in England and Europe - including Van Gogh Walk (Brixton) and Spencer Square (Ramsgate). His support extends to the kind use of other art work to help promote the concept. A donation bigger than cash.. Our list of champions for the initiative was boosted by our first school, Mayfield Primary, with Year 6 and Ms Butler starting their grow with donated seeds. Thanks Spacehive supporters.
Thanks to all that have planted a seed, told others of the project's aim or simply are smiling, thinking if this was their project, just how much quicker it would grow. Well please help me to build the momentum. This isn't my project, this is ours. Thanks also to Karina and Alison, who have made pledges.
If every day a single sunflower can make 10 people smile, then over it’s 50-odd days in bloom, theoretically it draws 500 smiles. How many smiles can you plant and nurture? Much as we'd like a pledge so we can spread the seed far and wide, your actions, and telling us that you are planting smiles (I mean sunflower seeds) means just as much to the initiative.
