Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen was established in 2019 when our founders realised there existed a problem with homelessness and lack of food provision in the evening that was both freely available and free of charge. We served our first meals on July 15th, and within in a matter of weeks were serving around 100 people a night with a three course meal, from a mobile trailer sited outside the Emanuel Church.
As time progressed we found not only the homeless needed our help, but those living in food poverty too, and so have expanded our services to provide food parcels, clothing, household appliances and other esentials donated by the generosity of the public
