The Community Initiative Funding window is OPEN - pitch your project idea by 28 May
To improve disabled access by providing a suitable ramp and entrance. This will be of benefit to over 220 people every week (comprising of the disabled both young and old, mums and toddlers on pushchairs, those struggling to walk, those on wheel chairs, those taking part in our activities for the community to combat social isolation and build a stronger community and activities provided by other groups such Say Aphasia, those who have suffered stroke ).
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We seek to be more inclusive by ensuring that our centre is easily accessible by all who currently use it and those who may use it in the future.
Steps to get it done:
To refurbish and improve access to our church and parish centre building. Making them more safe and welcoming, as well as offering new facilities so that we are better able to serve our community. This project will provide the necessary upgrading and extension of a busy parish centre and church. This is part of a major refrubishment and extension which will be done in phases. The phases are listed below. We seek funding for the external disabled access ramp and entrance. Phase 1a: Extension and refurbishment of hall (the extended hall supports the roofs for the kitchen side and the toilet/store side which enables the present kitchen to remain in use). Phase 1b: Improved disabled access. Phase 2: Extension of the Kitchen and Café (which enables the hall to remain in use). Phase 3: Conversion of current kitchen as counselling room and building new disabled toilets and a wet room for the homeless (including equipping). Phase 4: Top floor works/refurbishments and lifts.
