More about our impact
The environment
Eco friendly materials and recycled items were used as much as possible. The lanterns were made using eco-friendly willow, recyclable glue pots were used and plastic bottles and milk cartons were collected. Hot drinks were served in recyclable cups and hot water provided in big flasks. All power at the event was generated using batteries and inverters. After the event a litter pick was carried out and any items suitable were put for recycling.
The local economy
We asked local businesses to support the lantern parade project so hopefully through their sponsorship they attracted some business.
Volunteering, jobs & education
The project gave the local community opportunity to discuss their park and engage in future volunteering.
Activity, health and leisure
The lantern parade project introduced local residents to the park who might not have ventured around it before. On the night people were dancing, chatting to each other, laughing, smiling, walking around; all good for wellbeing and mental health.
