A platform for Croydon's communities to develop, fund and launch their own projects.
We did it! We managed to reach our crowdfunding target for our Christmas Extravaganza just as the event drew to a close last week. A huge belated THANK-YOU for helping us to realise our dream in bringing the magic of cinema to our wonderful community this Christmas. We are completely overwhelmed and humbled by everyone's generosity and belief in the project. It was a rocky ride but we made it in the end! A special thank you to our biggest backers - South Norwood Ward Councillors (Kathy Bee, Jane Avis and Wayne Trakas-Lawlor), Fishers Chemist, Nix Hair and Beauty and Natureza Dental Practice. The day went fabulously, kicking off with a sold-out matinee screening where nearly 100 children and adults were able to enjoy our film and activities. Throughout the afternoon our friends at the Clocktower Market brought a touch of glamour to the halls, with an array of stalls selling everything from cakes and coffee, to jewellery and locally-made honey. We saw a steady stream of people of all ages, who found themselves learning to knit, making hand puppets, having their faces painted and watching short films. In the evening, ticket holders were greeting by our latest recruit, Arthur the Usher, who made sure everyone was spick and span! After a screening of the Christmas heart-warmer A Muppet Christmas Carol, our audience was treated to a lively piano performance by Rowlf the Dog. A perfect end to a wonderful day. A small surplus in donations will be shared with the Stanley People's Initiative and our guest charity Shooting Star Chase. We will send a link to more photos of the day very soon! We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy and prosperous New Year and look forward to seeing you in 2017! Warm wishes Stanley's Film Club "With a glass raised to toast your health And a promise to share the wealth I will sail a friendly course, file a friendly chart On a sea of love and a thankful heart."
Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
We are almost there!! Huge thanks to Alan Kurtz at Fishers Chemist for his hugely generous pledge of £250, which has taken us past the 90% mark. We just have a teeny tiny £388 left to go before we can receive the funds that everyone has so generously pledged. We are busy getting ready for the big event tomorrow at Stanley Halls, and we would be absolutely delighted to reach our target and know we have covered our costs by the time we open doors at 10am. Please spread the word - together we can do this!
We've just reached 80%!! A HUGE thanks to everyone who has pledged so far, we've now raised over £1,500 alone from pledges made by generous individuals and businesses such as yourselves. We are excitedly getting ready for Saturday's event, which includes a sold-out family matinee screening, a Christmas market, a free puppet-making workshop in the afternoon (see photo!), free animated shorts and a fun-packed evening with puppetry performances and a second screening of Muppets Christmas Carol. We still have tickets for the evening event, which can be booked here: http://www.stanleysfilmclub.com/events/stanleys-christmas-extravaganza/ We now have just 3 days to go to reach our crowdfunding target, so the end is truly in sight! We only have another £900 to raise, so please spread the word and encourage your friends, family and colleagues to pledge or buy a ticket. Thanks again! The Film Club team
