Waffling On was set up by members of the SpLinter Group, a self-led community group of young people that finds creative ways to invite employers, parents, carers, people in communities and young people with learning differences themselves, to inter-act and grow in confidence. This is achieved by:
- ensuring that the organisation and its projects are always led and run by the young people themselves, with whatever support they feel is needed.
- taking the Waffling On trailer to markets and events to sell waffles and involve customers in awareness raising quizzes and activities
- running autism friendly gaming events with friendly competitions and creating new social connections for young people with learning differences
- working on the production of our own video games that have an awareness raising focus and marketing them
Waffling On is now established as a company limited by guarantee, set up to promote better understanding of autism and neurodiversity and how it affects young people as they attempt to establish themselves into adulthood, and to help create recognition and paid work for neurodivergent people within the social enterprise sector.
