The idea
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we have lost a considerable amount of income this season from match fees, sponsorship and even match day refreshments.
Although we are delighted to have a limited number of fixtures this season, the shortfall of games and normal activity around the clubhouse has caused us financial difficulties, particularly in terms of overheads such as ground maintenance.
Skipton CI is not just about the cricket – we’re a family friendly, community club and we want people to continue to use and enjoy our facilities.
Over the past few years, we’ve worked incredibly hard to improve the facilities which are now among the best in our league. This has really helped us attract a growing number of players, and if it wasn’t for the Covid crisis, we’d be in really great shape.
With your help through these strange times, we can keep the positive work going and ensure we have a fantastic sport facility for many years to come.
What we'll deliver
- Help with maintenance costs, including repair works to the cricket square (estimated to be around £1,000 this year)
- Help with clubhouse overheads and utilities
- Improvements to training facilities
Why it's a great idea
Skipton CI provides a safe and family friendly facility for the community. As well as our growing number of players, young and old, our facilities are used by various community groups including local schools.
We also host annual junior cricket tournaments.
We had plans to introduce a new girls team this season, but due to the crisis have had to put that on hold until next year.
In addition many people enjoy social membership and enjoy our events or pop down to watch games.
Steps to get it done
- End of season wicket square maintenance.
- Support for clubhouse costs and maintenance
