Sitopia @ Woodlands Farm, Greenwich

Thanks to you, we are very excited to be actually harvesting our first salads, vegetables, herbs and even some edible flowers! We hoped we'd be at this stage by now, but to be honest there are days when we pinch ourselves- we can't quite believe we've got here already. There's a lot of work still to be done, of course, but with the help of over 150 volunteers we've built nearly half our beds and are now selling our first produce. We'd love to share it with you! If you live near the farm and would like a seasonal produce bag do get in touch with us at [email protected]. What we're able to offer will evolve fast over time and as more crops are ready for harvesting, but this week we can offer a £10 bag of goodies, for pick up Wednesday at the farm (2-6pm). Harvested that very morning :) We hope to be able to offer a delivery service in future. This week's bags will contain a mixture of mixed salad+ edible flowers, leafy greens, herbs and fruit (supplemented with produce from our wonderful farmitect Alice Holden's organic-certified Dagenham Farm until we have enough fruit of our own!). Welcome to what feels like the first days of summer down at the farm! With the help of you (413) incredible backers we hit 100% of our crowdfunder target and raised £77,600. Rather mindblowingly. Thank you thank you thank you. This means we're now able to crack on with the business of building our beautiful farm. The polytunnel is up and fast being filled with delicious varieties of tomatoes, peppers, chillies, basil, coriander, flowers, salad leaves...with cucumbers, melons, beans and much more to follow. With the help of over 100 amazing volunteers we've also built about 1/3 of our outdoor beds and transplanted some of our 1000s of seedlings. It's a juggling act at the moment between making beds so there's space for plants to go in, sowing seeds to become those plants...and looking after the ones already in. We suspect it's a juggling act to be enjoyed for many years to come. You've only gone and done it. With the help of all you incredibly generous souls, somewhat poetically it was our 400th lovely backer who just took us to 100% of our crowdfunder target! This farm is going to happen. When we first started to dream about it, we hoped that others might share that dream. And, wow, you've made that dream come true. Thank you.
