The idea
This project is to deliver Silent Zumba Gold classes to individuals of 50 years old or over within the Church Street and Paddington area. My goal is to, through a mixed of rhythms and dance moves, help attendees to improve their fitness level, well-being, quality of life, social skills and interaction; and equally promote a healthy lifestyle and tackle loneliness through the promotion of social inclusion.
My activities are of a physical nature especially designed for individuals of 50 years of age and it takes into consideration their needs and limitations which are reflected in the choreography and moves. Silent Zumba Gold doesn't require a sound system as attendees are given their own headphones for each session; which enables all to adhere to current C-19 climate and practice social distancing accordingly.
Classes are held in sport halls and other larger venue within the Church Street or Paddington area and days and times are set to suit attendees availability.
What we'll deliver
- Dance/excersice classes delivered for individuals over 50 years of age
- Up to 20 attendees, safe socially distance
- Excersice / dance classes of 45 min
- Wireless/bluetooth individual headphones with 300m range
Why it's a great idea
As a carefully tailored exercise and dance class, Zumba Gold can bring to participants significant improvement on their health and wellbeing.I would also expect to see attendees' physical and mental health improving continuously through the sessions, making them feel and look more active, see them adapting to a healthier lifestyle in addition to an increase in self-confidence and a sense of belonging in the society. I would also foresee a stronger sense of community within the individuals being created, an improvement in interaction between attendees; resulting in significant decrease in loneliness.
Other physical benefits would include improvement of flexibility, and joints, weigh loss, muscle strengthening, management of stress levels, boosting self-esteem. Equally important, these sessions are very successful in promoting companionship and friendship; creating a better and improved quality of social live and improved community cohesion.
