Sibling Reconnections is developed to support and maintain sibling relations that has been affected by separation in care. We are creating an event day to spread the awareness to support our project.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
We are waiting for the council to grant an event permit. In the unlikely situation where this is not granted, this campaign will be closed and pledges refunded To spread this awareness I am planning to crowdfund for a summer event to promote the project with the help from community support, Foster carers, Special Guardianships families, Kinship families and the community. The event will involve presentations, interviews, games and refreshments to support our upcoming project for Sibling Reconnections UK. This event will promote what the project will involve, how the community will benefit from our service and opportunities for families within the community to sign up and get involved. Through this event we are looking for our community to speak out to give ideas on how we can improve our services and to give our young children a platform to speak out to give ideas about what they would like and how the project of Sibling Reconnections could help them.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
My project is created to support children's mental, emotional and behaviour issues and to support children to manage their feelings. This is aimed at children who has experienced traumatic loss in their lives. A lot of issues that children face within their lives starts at a young age and the experiences faced by children can be overwhelming, which then leads to mental and emotionally health issues. Within the time period from March 2020, the number of children in foster care grew by around 11% which is a massive increase and the number of fostering households and foster carers in England are at their highest ever levels based on Local Authorities data statistics. The important benefit of providing this service is to give opportunities for children to spend time with their families in a safe environment and to create and build memorable memories that will last a lifetime which will bring more families and communities together and networking with similar services.
Steps to get it done:
The project is focused on supporting contact with siblings to build on family relationships, however I would also like to focus on building exciting life stories to evidence the support of children lives which has been affected within the community. This will also be a platform for foster carers, special guardianship families to get more involve in supporting children. This project has been influenced by my own personal and current situation as I am a special guardian parent for a family member of my own and would like to use this opportunity to promote and encourage the awareness of emotional and mental trauma and the affect it has on babies and children. This project development is a service for children to gain a better understanding of their lives with the support of their siblings, to create memorable experiences and to spread the awareness within the community to support our children.
