Shine a light at Under the Edge Arts

Under the Edge Arts needs a new lighting system. Our old equipment is failing us and needs replacing and our performers do like the audiences to be able to see them!

This project has reached its fundraising target. It has also activated Continuous Fundraising, which means you can still donate and support the project.

More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

Digital Lighting Desk: ADJ Link + iPad - necessary for controlling the new lights and a significant first step in modernising the entire lighting rig to reduce running costs (fewer bulb replacements and more energy efficient).

The local economy

The local economy

Our programme of arts activities brings people to the town both during the week for classes and in the evenings and weekends for live events, workshops and exhibitions. They frequently then use other facilities, pubs and shops within the town. We also use local suppliers and companies wherever possible.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

We rely on volunteers to run our events, and have built a great volunteer base. The improved lighting facilities will allow us to continue to offer our programme of activities, and so offering further volunteer opportunities. We will be running training sessions in how to use the new equipment, both for exisiting volunteers and anyone interested in learning.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

The lighting equipment is a vital part of our live events, performances and exhibitions, which in turn are a vital part of our programme of activities. The project has allowed us to continue to bring a wide range of arts and cultural events to the local community, including: Live music (including local bands and artists) Theatre Comedy Puppet shows Talks Craft Fairs Exhibitions of work by local artists Free-to-attend music jam sessions Classes, workshops and courses Collaboration with, and a meeting place for, local community groups and organisations

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

By continuing to provide our live events we can continue our wider programme of arts activities, including arts for wellbeing. Our events are largely attended by middle-aged and elderly residents, and the lack of public transport means it is important that cultural activities and events are available to them within the town.
