The idea
Under the Edge Arts is a volunteer-led community arts centre based in the Chipping Hall, Wotton-under-Edge. We run classes, events performances and workshops in a wide range of activities including visual arts, crafts, literature and performing arts.
A major feature of our programme, especially at weekends, is live performance - from solo singer-songwriters to bands, choirs, comedy, local theatre to name a few.
Our lighting system is about 20 years old and is showing its age - we only have a few functioning spotlights and the lighting desk is unreliable. In order to continue hosting these live performances we need to replace the faulty equipment so our audiences can see the performers! And no audience or performers means no income.
Wotton has always been very fortunate to have our own thriving arts community with a venue to call home. This is now under threat due to the ongoing cost of living crisis and lack of public funding for the arts. Can you help secure our future?
What we'll deliver
- We will have an arts venue with a proper, functioning lighting system to light our live events
- A continued programme of live performances
Why it's a great idea
If we can't replace our lighting system we won't be able to host live performers. The resulting lack of income means we will no longer be able to provide a venue for our programme of events and activities. This includes:
A home to the free-to-attend monthly Jazz and Blues Jams, Electronic Open Mic Nights, Vinyl Nights and Board Games Nights
An accessible venue for performances, classes, workshops and exhibitions
Regular free or low-cost workshops and drop-in cafes which fulfill a need for creative, social and wellbeing activities
A community hub for arts and creativity for Wotton and the surrounding area

8 x CCT Minuette FR lights £ 150 each = £1200
2 x Source Fresnel £444.00 each = £888.00
Sundries ( spare lamps and gels and support wires ) £112
Installation costs £ 500.00
