The environment

The environment

Funding for the bird and bug hotels has now been received and the items have been delivered ready for installation. Since beginning this project it has developed further, and we have now agreed to a shared allotment space with the local school. Planters are being prepared for installation and the children should hopefully begin using this space in 2022. We intend to grow vegetables and encourage local wildlife including mini beasts and bees. Sensory herbs and plants will be planted for the children and wildlife to enjoy.

Volunteering, jobs & education

The new outdoor spaces we are working on will benefit the children's education providing more outdoor learning opportunities and a better understanding of nature and the environment.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Research shows that a more natural environment enhances learning and development and boosts children’s mental health which is why we have decided to create an outdoor space designed to promote structured and unstructured physical activity, play and learning. This project will be shared with families and parents of the setting, working in partnership to promote a healthier way of life in the community. Overall our new play area should increase physical activity, self-confidence, independence and creativity by being outdoors more.
