Shaping Up Westminster is a new organisation, just started this year. However, its founder, Rima Mezal is also the founder of an organisation called Fitness 4 Women which has been running for many years. Our aim is to provide safe and effective exercises and to promote healthy lifestyles that improve the quality of life for women in the Church Street & Lisson Green area of Westminster. There is a demand for women only classes in a non-mixed environment as we identified that this can be a barrier for women wanting to lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle. Cost can also be a barrier, and our aim at Shape Up Westminster is to provide our services for free to those who are unable to pay.
Through Fitness 4 Women, have been accredited with the 'City of Westminster Charter Mark' and the Active Westminster Awards 2011 in recognition of the services I provided; I have also successfully delivered these services in the borough of Westminster on behalf of Westminster City Council through a Service Level Agreement over the duration of 1 year.
Fitness 4 Women has been funded in the past by Evening Standard, Neighbourhood Keepers, Awards 4 all, Grass root grants, Westminster Small Grants, Unltd, The Princess Trust and Community Champions.
