Our aim as a charity is to serve people living in financial hardship through dressing and sewing. We do this through 'growing enterprise' and 'building community'. Each of our sewing hubs tends to focus on one of these elements, whilst still offering both. For example our international sewing hubs (Across Africa and in India) focus on 'growing enterprise': using our specially designed dress which can be made in remote parts of the world as a tool to improve the economic lives of these living in poverty. Our local sewing hubs, with a particular reference to those in West Oxfordshire focus on 'building community': we have found in our ever increasing transient world, people living in growing isolation which reduces our resilience to thrive as people. By 'building community' through the means of dressmaking we are able to offer a place of belonging to those with a common creative interest: improving peoples sense of place, self-esteem, self-worth and mental well-being.
