We would like to purchase shutters for our Charity. It was broken into, keys, laptops, money from selling recycled school uniforms and from a sponsored Swim for lonely and isolated women were stolen.

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

We would like to purchase shutters for our windows to ensure that this does not happen again. As a Charitable organisation it is important that the women and children that use our premises feel safe when they are in our building. Just to give you a little bit more information about the organisation, we are based in St. David's Shopping Centre, Swansea and our aim is to work with individual women and groups in the community that are deemed “hard to reach” and “disadvantaged” by society. Our ethos is to encourage and facilitate the personal development of the women whilst at the same time encouraging them to choose the right path and transform their lives. Our main objective is to work with women facing the biggest barriers – young people, lone parents, people with disabilities, victims of domestic abuse, black and minority ethnic communities, women on long-term benefits, offenders and ex-offenders and their families and those struggling with financial issues.

What we'll deliver:

  • Fit security shutters to our windows

Why it's a great idea:

GROW is the only women organisation in the area. There are other organisations that provide training but none are women only and deal mainly with women who have not worked for some time, who are working but not using their qualification that they have. We provide a drop in for women who are lonely and isolated. Our recycle school uniform project also give us access to women who would like to become economically active and reduce their dependency on benefit.

Steps to get it done:

  • Purchasing security shutters and having them installed with three months of getting funding.

Due to the fact that we were recently broken into and had several pieces of equipment stolen including laptops and money we are concerned that this may happen again and have been advised by our insurance company to look at installing security shutters. Bearing in mind that we are a women only organisation the security and safety of the volunteers and users / clients are paramount and we feel we have to take measure to prevent this happening again. Hence the need for the security shutters.
