Scrubditch Care Farm is located near North Cerney, Cirencester. We are the only care farm in Gloucestershire.

We provide therapeutic farm-based activities for disabled people and those with neurodegenerative conditions including dementia. 64% of beneficiaries have a learning disability.

We offer a safe and secure environment to access the natural world in which disabled and very vulnerable individuals can form friendships and improve social skills; opportunities many have not experienced before.

Our services include an Animal Care Programme including off site visits to local charities, Food to Fork programme, woodland walks, nature-connection activities, craft and woodwork sessions and community events. The active participation with animals, plants, nature and the outdoors lead to improved physical and mental health, confidence and independence.

After taking part:

During sessions people learn how to care for animals which has significant therapeutic benefits whilst encouraging responsibility and care. People join woodland walks and cooking sessions where they learn about food production, how to grow vegetables from seed, cook and make healthy choices in our cooking studio. They also make seats, wind chimes and other features for our accessible woodland trail.

John has a learning disability and lives in the city.

He has been attending the Farm for nearly 10 years. He enjoys spending time with animals especially our retired racehorse, the countryside and to build skills for employment.

Lockdowns really affected John but by continuing to come to the Farm, he is more confident and independent again. He follows instructions and works well as part of a team. These skills have been put to great use as during Summer 2023, John started his first part time job and continues to work each week, earning himself a wage and building his confidence, whilst coming to the Farm.
