The idea
The scout groups activities take place against a background of a changing world. From the summer Olympics of 1928 to the adoption of a constitution and declaration of a Republic. Scout leaders forge ahead with their sections as the Catholic Church slowly wanes in influence. This book tells a story of consistent leadership, fun and optimism in an ever changing world. As the girls join the boys, two scout associations merge and although great effort is required it all appears seamless for the beavers, cubs, scouts and venturers.

Why it's a great idea
The 35th Scouting Trail will provide a permanent record of scouting activities and events for the last 100 years. A lot of research yields an accurate record of events. Humour and fun will offset the sometimes dry and sombre events of a particular time.
This story provides a background of the times in which a hundred years of community service takes place; from economically challenging times to the Celtic Tiger. From an all pervading church influence to a freer more tolerant and inclusive society the story winds its way around various obstacles and opportunities. And yes, from war through peace!
