When the Oundle recreation and green spaces group (ORGSG) started the campaign to purchase Fletton Field in April 2018, Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) had informed us (via their agent Connells) that they wished a swift sale and that a decision on the successful bid would certainly be made by August 2018. We quickly got our Crowdfunding underway, with 31 December as the closing date, and made our bid to Connells. However, since then NCC has done nothing, timescales slipping and still does not have permission from the Secretary of State for Education to sell the field! - although, in response to our MP Tom Pursglove, NCC has indicated its intention to seek planning permission for building on the site (a second time - the first application was refused) but with no indication of a revised timescale. We are of courses hugely disappointed with the current impasse but in the circumstances, we have to allow the ORGSG crowdfunding appeal for Fletton Field to expire on 31st December. The pledges that have been made will NOT be drawn down. We will keep you all up to date with next steps. Thank you each and every-one who has pledged their support, rest assured ORGSG remains committed to securing much needed accessible green space for all Oundle residents and we hope to try again when we know NCC's intentions. We have launched the crowd funding site today, we are very excited and hope you will join with us to save this precious green space in the hear of Oundle. We have received a number of amazing pledges which have given the project a really good kick start but from here on we need you to support us by spreading the word to friends and family through local media and your networks and to PLEASE pledge to support the campaign through Spacehive. It means so much to have received the current pledges and it will be invaluable to the campaign to receive yours. Thank you for the support so far, please keep us in your mind, pledge as little or as much as you can and lets develop a great space to benefit Oundle in as many ways as can be imagined.
