The Barons Court Theatre is a multi award-winning 52-seat studio theatre in the heart of West London, between Hammersmith and Chelsea. Situated in the basement of the Curtains Up Pub, the theatre is a stone's throw from Queen's Club and near both Barons Court and West Kensington tube stations.
Barons Court has been running since 1991 and has been run by Artistic Director Sharon Willems and Executive Director Leo Bacica since 2021.
Since they began programming the space, Sharon and Leo have welcomed multiple debut writers, maintained gender parity on stage and become a home for Ukrainian theatre artists displaced and living in London. They were awarded the 2023 Offies People's Vote Award for Most Welcoming Venue in February 2023 and aim to champion emerging and early career artists, many of whom have come to the industry in non-traditional ways and who have limited networks in the UK, whenever possible. They love plays in translation, plays that challenge our expectations, and plays that are unapologetically theatrical.
We regularly run events to support local artists, including our monthly scratch night, The Sunday Fix, which provides access to more established theatre makers in an informal, non-competitive environment to dismantle barriers to careers in the arts.
Local artists have featured in multiple productions already in our tenure, and we are committed to featuring local talent whenever possible.
